North Carolina requires that a graduate pass both their written and practical exams within three attempts each. In the event a student does not pass either the written or practical exams as described, the State Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners requires that a graduate attend a school for forty (40) hours in preparation to re-take the written and/or the practical, whichever was/were not originally passed. Once the forty (40) hours are complete, the administration notifies the North Carolina State Board who will, in turn, allow the graduate to proceed to take either or both exams as needed. The tuition for this training is $5.00/hour.
